One of Upgrade Energy Philippines’ core values is taking care of our environment and paying it forward to our community. In line with this, we conduct a quarterly outreach program in partnership with Non-Government Organizations (NGOs) or Social Organizations. For this, we have chosen DSWD Sanctuary Center as our partner.
DSWD Sanctuary Center is a safe house for women ages 18 to 59 years old who are recovering from psychosis and other mental illnesses. The center provides medical assistance and training for several occupational and recreational activities like soap-making, gardening, and fitness routines.
Our President, Ruth Yu-Owen, opted to celebrate her birthday with these beautiful women and educate us what life is, inside the sanctuary. We started the program by doing breathing exercises and light Zumba. We also donated books for them to read and gave them food for lunch. We also visited aged women and mentally disturbed that cannot join the team. We are abundantly blessed that we were joined by them who gave us nothing but smiles and hugs. They won our hearts.
