One of Upgrade Energy Philippines’ core values is taking care of our environment and paying it forward to our community. In line with this, we conduct a quarterly outreach program in partnership with Non-Government Organizations (NGOs) or Social Organizations. For this quarter, we have chosen Project PEARLS as our partner.
Project PEARLS established their roots in Ulingan, which is located in a reclaimed area near the breakwaters of Manila North Harbor. Their Mission Vision is a world where no child should go hungry for nutrition, education, shelter, medical services, and opportunities to achieve a child’s potential. Their mission is currently focused on Four (4) communities: Helping Land, Tondo situated in active dumpsite and people’s main source of living is making “pagpag” –cooking leftover food; St. Martha Village, Bocaue Bulacan relocated families who lived in Ulingan; LAKAS tribe, Zambales where indigenous Aeta community is located; and Zamboanga Sibugay, Mindanao home to some impoverished families in the Mindanao Region. Project PEARLS continues to support these communities by conducting outreach activities and giving scholarship grants to the children and providing free breakfast everyday.
On June 2, 2019 Upgrade Energy Philippines together with sponsors started the program with Zumba, 30-minute fun and dance. We also arranged them for a feeding program where 100 kids lined up for their food. Lastly, we donated bags and school supplies for their scholars and non-scholars. We believe that they receive their “key pass” to a brighter tomorrow.
